January 24, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) ST. PETERSBURG, FL – On January 21, 2012 Health & Wellness Channel held the first of its 2012 TAKE ME OUT TO THE BOWL GAME events with kids from the Sarasota Easter Seals as well as young adults from the Homeless Emergency Project. The pre-party was held at famous Ferg’s across from Tropicana Field, the home of the East-West Shrine Game, which HWC was sponsoring. “We ate lots, laughed plenty, and enjoyed a very good football game,” said HWC founder Drew Nederpelt, who says the company will sponsor such an event for every college football bowl game this year. “It’s very important that we get involved in the community in which we live and work, and in the case of health and wellness, that community is global. The event in St. Pete was the kick-off but we’ll be in dozens of communities through the year, spreading the gospel of support for local charities and especially the education of children to the importance of life, love and longevity.” The event was attended by four members of HWC’s talent pool, including Kelly Prince, Roni Sloman, Obi, and ex-Bucs quarterback Jeff Carlson.
Jackie Dryden from the Homeless Emergency Project wrote: “Thank you so much for inviting children who participate in HEP programs to the Shrine Bowl last Saturday. They had a great time and really appreciated the opportunity to come down to St. Pete. Please pass my regards to Drew and the rest of the Health & Wellness Channel team, as well, for their hospitality and for taking a genuine interest in the children. The kids (though quiet!) were in awe of the personalities. One of our kids especially enjoyed getting the autographs of everyone.”
